We designed the telescoping channel bar over 10 years ago for Professional Displays in Ontario, California.
That initial design was a hybrid design, with aluminum extrusion and nylon plastic pieces. We still sell this design today. It is the strongest channel bar on the market. This is especially important when there are a lot of shelves on the unit.
That unit was patented under patent #5,501,051, and remains a hugely popular item, for consumers in “high end” pop up display market.
The three major draw backs of the first design were weight (aluminum), cost (labor intensive), and design improvements. We have addressed these concerns and designed a new version made out of “Hi Impact ABS” plastic. Although it has a very expensive initial cost (six figure $) for the 3 injection molds to build it, the assembly labor is greatly reduced. The design improvements were also made and we have filed a “Patent Pending” on the unit. This will be a “World Wide” patent, so we will be the only ones producing this unit for years to come.
The major advantage is that the unit can be assembled in seconds, instead of minutes. Women, and height challenged people will no longer have to fight with 21 channel bars, or hinged channel bars that collapse on top of the builder (no hard hats).
